Activities, entertainment and culture
The South West of France is very rich in history, and campers have the opportunity to visit part of it. We also strive to make them discover and understand the culture specific to France, and more particularly the Landes and the Basque Country. For example, we take them to shows in arenas that are unique in the world (“courses landaises”, typical outdoor farmer’s market, etc.)
The Landes forest
The South West of France has a lot to offer and the magnificent landscapes of the Landes and the Basque Country are always a big summer attraction for both French citizens and international tourists.
The Landes forest is mainly made up of tall pines and cycle paths where runners, walkers and cyclists can also enjoy an invigorating workout.
In addition, players will have the opportunity to discover the natural heritage and the different landscapes that the French South West Atlantic region has to offer, such as the Atlantic Ocean, beaches and dunes, as well as pine forests, the vast lakes and mountains of the Pyrenees (an hour’s drive south). Sports Campus is also located an hour’s drive from Spain.
Discover "La Pelote Basque" and the Landes/Basque culture
Odyssey Tennis will bring campers to at least one show during their time at the Academy.. This show presents some of the most traditional folklore of the Landes and the Basque Country as well as dominant sports in the region such as Chistera and other variants of Basque pelota played on a wall called “Fronton”.
The arena is located in Vieux-Boucau, a convenient walking distance from the camp. It’s a great opportunity for children to attend a unique show typical of the South West of France.
